Bad news for Fortnite creators Epic Games. The studio is being sued by Franklin D. Azar & Associates over not adequately handling a hack that occurred last January, exposing sensitive personal data of hundreds of thousands players merely by those players clicking a link in the hackers' fake email.

As the lawsuit states when summarizing the unfortunate event: "By discovering a vulnerability found in some of Epic Games’ sub-domains, an XSS attack was permissible with the user merely needing to click on a link sent to them by the attacker.

Once clicked, with no need even for them to enter any login credentials, their Fortnite username and password could immediately be captured the attacker."

While Epic Games acknowledged the mistake at the time and worked towards resolving the issue, the lawsuit claims that Epic games did not do everything in its power to help affected Fortnite players. For instance, the company did not reach out to the owners of the hacked accounts to help protect the private data going forward.

The lawyers Franklin D. Azar & Associates are looking for Fortnite players affected by this hack, as the firm thinks it is in everyone's interest to resolve the issue. So far, Epic Games has not commented on the lawsuit.
