Red Bull has announced REVERSE META, a creator-led VALORANT showmatch taking place at the Red Bull Gaming Sphere in London on August 29th.

The 5v5 event will see a team of UK creators face esports organisation Fnatic in a LAN showdown, with each round governed by a rule chosen at random. According to a release, a gameshow-style wheelspin will decide the strategy both teams have to follow, ranging from weapon restrictions to rounds played entirely without sound.

Minecraft and variety creator Tubbo will lead a lineup made up of Tenshi, Andruwu, Jonnaay and Seapeekay. Red Bull has not confirmed which players will represent Fnatic. The winning side will receive what the release described as 'exclusive REVERSE META memorabilia'.

VALORANT, Riot Games' 5v5 tactical shooter, is usually played to a settled 'meta' — the set of agents, weapons and tactics considered most effective at any given time. REVERSE META is built around removing that certainty, forcing teams to improvise from round to round rather than rely on practised setups.

The showmatch will be streamed live from 3:30 PM BST, with Tubbo hosting the anchor broadcast. Each participating creator will also have the option to stream their own point of view, giving viewers several ways to follow the match.

According to the release, the event forms part of Red Bull's wider support of the UK VALORANT and esports scenes, with the energy drink company positioning creator formats as a way to connect players and fans.

Red Bull's history in VALORANT

The Red Bull Gaming Sphere, located in Shoreditch, London, has hosted the company's UK esports and creator events since opening in 2018, covering titles including VALORANT, Rocket League and Counter-Strike.

Red Bull is also one of the more established third-party organisers in VALORANT. Its Red Bull Home Ground series has run alongside Riot Games' VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) as an offseason competition, with Fnatic among the teams to have won the event.

Fnatic, meanwhile, competes in VCT EMEA and has been one of the region's most consistent VALORANT sides, making it a recognisable opponent for a creator roster with varying levels of competitive experience.
