Teamfight Tactics launches Enchanted Wilds, its first set on Unreal Engine

Riot Games has released Enchanted Wilds, the 18th set of Teamfight Tactics (TFT) and the first to run on Unreal Engine.

The update went live on global servers on August 25th and is free on both PC and mobile. TFT is the autobattler mode built by Riot Games, the developer behind League of Legends and VALORANT, in which players buy champions from a shared shop and assemble boards that fight automatically each round. Every new set replaces the previous roster of champions and traits, changing how players build their teams.

According to a release, Enchanted Wilds is themed around a mystical forest of ancient magic, colossal creatures and woodland spirits. The set's new champions and traits range from commanding a stampede of Riftbeasts to growing a living Elderwood battlefield, which Riot said gives players flexible team-building routes each game.

The headline addition is the set mechanic, Wisps. These are forest denizens that show up in the shop as temporary, single-use sources of power, with players able to buy one per round in exchange for combat boosts, economy rewards, experience or high-risk, high-reward deals. Stronger Wisps appear as a game goes on. The Carousel, the shared draft round in which players pick a champion and item from a rotating selection, has also returned with the set.

A new run of cosmetics is arriving alongside the launch, split across the set's first two patches. Landing in patch 18.1:

  • Chibi Office Aatrox
  • Spirit Blossom Springs Aphelios Unbound
  • Prestige Immortal Journey Shyvana

Arriving later in patch 18.2:

  • Chibi Soul Fighter Jinx
  • Jinx's Tournament of Chaos Arena
  • Coven LeBlanc Unbound

A new Battle Pass, the progression track players work through as they play, has also gone live with the set.

Riot's wider Unreal Engine shift

Enchanted Wilds is the first TFT set built on Unreal Engine, and Riot ran an extended stint on the Public Beta Environment (PBE) — its public test server — before pushing the set to live servers.

Matthew 'Witty' Wittrock, Set Lead for Enchanted Wilds, said: "With Enchanted Wilds being our first set on Unreal Engine, the community's support during the extended PBE was incredibly valuable. We loved seeing players explore the new world, traits, and Wisps, and their feedback helped us prepare for launch. We're excited to keep building on this release and begin our next chapter on Unreal."

The move follows a similar migration elsewhere in Riot's portfolio. VALORANT shifted to Unreal Engine 5 in July 2025 with patch 11.02, an upgrade the studio announced around the tactical shooter's fifth anniversary and one that drew questions from players over performance before release.
