On the 17th, Griffin won against Afreeca Freecs 2-0.

In game 1, everything went way to the side of Griffin when Sword and Tarzan began the snowball top lane. Shutting down a Jayce against an Urgot matchup gave route for Griffin to take initiative into the mid game. There was no single player that carried the game as every player on Griffin played to perfection.

Game 2 was different to the previous game as Griffin seemed more aggressive. Chovy explained that the previous game was merely a warmup. In other words, the Griffin players were relentless in closing the game and closing it out fast.

After the games, Lehends was interviewed in the press room. Below are his responses.

¤ How do you feel about the win?

I am happy that we won today’s game. It feels nice to know that our team is performing extremely well.


¤ Afreeca Freecs Spirit has role swapped a multitude of times. Today, he played as jungle. Were you expecting some sort of switch up?

We didn’t necessarily expect anything. We just prepared what to do if certain picks came out.


¤ Was the Skarner and Karthus bans because of these preparations?

We banned those champions because they are annoying to play against, and we did not practice playing against those champions.


¤ You played extremely well today. But unfortunately, Chovy got the MVP title. 

I think I performed better in the first game than the second game. I started to think “I actually might get the MVP title.” In the end, however, I knew Chovy did the most damage and he did play well. I guess this is just the life of a support (laughs). I’m used to it now, so I don’t feel as bad.


¤ Griffin has a high chance to be undefeated in the first split. Do you think Griffin can be undefeated throughout the whole season?

It is too soon to say. Only after we are undefeated in the Spring Split, we’ll talk and think about being undefeated for the whole season.


¤ Griffin seems to be on another level. What is the secret?

Talking with the big picture in mind, we always orchestrate our plays on how we can make each individual play their role to the finest. Inside the game, the game is run by me and Tarzan.


¤ Lastly, is there anything you want to say?

We are one win away from being undefeated. We will try our best to prepare well and show you guys an entertaining game to watch. I hope you guys continue to support us.
