On June 29, in the 2022 LCK Summer Split, Liiv SANDBOX took down one of the undefeated teams in the league, DRX. It was a close 2-1 victory as the two teams fought to the end. Kim “Dove” Jae-yeon had a splendid performance in today’s match, especially in the third game playing Azir. As he was voted as the Player of the Game for game 3, he joined the media room to talk with the press.
How do you feel about today’s win?
It’s not directly related to me, but today’s match was between bank sponsors, so I really wanted to win. DRX was on a good roll, so I wanted to stop that too. I’m happy that we won.
Seeing Liiv SANDBOX’s recent games, you trail in the early game but turn it around somehow. What’s your secret?
Our comebacks are thanks to the decisive shotcalls of Croco. It’s not that we play badly in the early game, but by my standards, it’s not good enough.
You played Azir top in game 3. What are the conditions to play him?
If a mid lane champion goes to the top lane, it’s difficult to survive because the lane is longer, but Azir can deal with that. Since the meta has been shifting towards the late game recently, Azir was a good champion to play, so we picked him.
In the broadcast interview, you said that Crown of the Shattered Queen is good. Why is that?
The disadvantage of building Crown of the Shattered Queen is that it lacks damage compared to other Legendary AP items, but it has a shield to make up for the damage. I thought it would be better to build a cheaper item and scale faster when playing Azir top.
What do you think about the Gangplank vs. Gnar matchup?
It’s a matchup where both champions can do something. In my opinion, Gnar did better in both of those matchups today. Kingen and I both played Gnar well, but the reason Gangplank won the game was probably because of his global ultimate.
Any comments to the fans?
Thank you for cheering us online and at LoL Park. The best we can do to repay you for your support is to win. I’ll work hard to do that.
