[LCK Today] DWG rises to the top of the standings in win over GEN, T1 on 4-game winning streak

On August 6, in the 2020 League of Legends Champions Korea Summer Split, DAMWON Gaming (DWG) faced Gen.G and SeolHaeOne Prince (SP) played T1. With a 2-1 victory and their sixth straight win, DWG finally took to the top of the standings, while T1 collected their fourth straight win with a sweep over SP.

DWG had a dominating showing over Gen.G in game 1. Jungler Kim "Canyon" Geon-bu's Nidalee went all around the Rift, stealing jungle camps while surviving from counterattacks. Although Gen.G took more dragons and picked up two kills in the bot 2v2, Nidalee grew up to become a monster. It was only 20 minutes into the game when the global gold difference was already 5K apart in DWG's favor, resulting in a game win at minute 26.

Gen.G proved why their opponents should ban Ashe in the second game. Starting with a solo kill by Kim "Rascal" Kwang-hee's Renekton, Gen.G led the laning phase in top and mid to gain objective advantage. Although DWG struck back by killing Volibear and Renekton, Gen.G took the second dragon and killed Heo "ShowMaker" Su's Zoe to regain the lead. By the time Gen.G took the Ocean Dragon's soul, Park "Ruler" Jae-hyuk's Ashe was unstoppable. After slaying the Elder Dragon, Gen.G won the teamfight and destroyed DWG's Nexus.

DWG was greedy in the third game. They tried to take everything from scuttle crabs to dragons. At the 9-minute mark, DWG gathered for a fight in front of the Rift Herald's pit. By scoring an Ace at this fight, DAMWON Gaming took a massive lead. With Canyon's Karthus having scaled extremely well, DAMWON Gaming snowballed well. After taking the dragon's soul, they also slew Baron and finished the game in 25 minutes.

SeolHaeOne Prince couldn't do anything against T1. The early game went without much trouble for both teams. SP sent in four champions to kill Kim "Canna" Chang-dong's Vladimir in the top lane, but they only succeeded to burn Vladimir's Flash. This led to a kill in bot lane where Park "Teddy" Jin-seong finished off Caitlyn with his Trueshot Barrage. From that point, the game tilted drastically towards T1's side. In only 16 minutes, the global gold difference was 6K. T1 was able to do whatever they wanted to do. After slaying Baron, T1 had no trouble finishing the game.

First blood was taken by SeolHaeOne Prince as Park “Kuma” Hyeon-gyu’s Lee Sin ganked mid lane, but as soon as Lee “Clozer” Ju-hyeon’s Zoe returned to the lane, he solo-killed Son “Mickey” Young-min’s Syndra. Shortly after, Zoe picked up another solo kill on Syndra, giving a big lead to T1. T1 picked up another kill in the bot lane at the same time. SeolHaeOne Prince struck back as Clozer overextended a few times and they won a big teamfight in front of the inhibitor. However, T1’s lead was too big and the only hope SeolHaeOne Prince had was that they took more dragons. As SeolHaeOne Prince tried to take the third dragon, T1 pounced on them and scored an Ace. Afterward, T1 maintained their lead and took their 10th win of the season and their 4th straight win.
