SK Telecom T1 made it through the Group Stage of the 2019 LoL World Championship as the first seed. With only one loss against Fnatic, SKT stood strong as the top team in their group with a 5-1 record. After their final match of the group stage, Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok spoke with Park Jeesun on how he felt about reaching the quarterfinals.
Congratulations on the win. How do you feel coming out of Groups?
I’m satisfied that we’ve finished groups as the first seed. Since we’re looking to get to win in the final, I’ll make sure we improve our performance until then.
Akali appears often in the current meta. Is it considered good for Khan and Faker?
Although Akali appears often, we would be good whatever the meta is, so I don’t think it’s more advantageous for us because Akali is meta.
RNG and Fnatic will play in the next match. Who do you think will make it through?
Frankly, we’ll have to see. We only focus on our own games, so I’m not too curious about how other matches go.
Who do you think would be difficult to play against in the quarterfinals?
G2 Esports reached the quarterfinals as the second seed. It would be fun if we meet them, but I don’t mind who we meet.
How’s your mindset going into quarters?
We’ll do well in the quarterfinals.
Any last comments?
Thank you to the fans that cheer for us. We still have a long way to go, so I’m very thankful for all your cheers.
