The 2019 World Cyber Games (WCG) held from July 18th to 21st had its grand finale.
WCG, which returned in 6 years, had Crossfire, Clash Royale, Hearthstone, Dota 2, Wangzhe Rongyao, and Warcraft 3 as major events. Alongside the major events, there was a Starcraft 2 invitational, a ‘new horizon’ robot fighting championship, A.I. masters, VR championship, scratch creative challenge, etc.
In the main esports division, the hosting country, China’s results were dominating with 4 gold medals. In Crossfire, which is widely popular in China, the final was a civil war where Super Valient defeated All Gamers 2-0 to claim the gold medal.
There was another civil war in mobile MOBA game, Wangzhe Rongyao, where Dteam defeated Vstar 2-0 for the championship. Warcraft 3 had drawn the most attention during the event; Infi took the gold medal by beating TH000 at the finals, while Moon took bronze.
In Clash Royale, JuicyJ of the US defeated Efemgg of Turkey in a close 3-2 battle and in Hearthstone, Hungary’s exigo defeated US’ TerranceM 2-1. Newbee claimed gold medal for Dota 2.
