On the 16th of January, at the newly established LoL Park, the opening day of the 2019 LCK Spring Split took place. The second series of the day featured DAMWON Gaming and Gen.G Esports, in which DWG came out on top with a score of 2:0. During the series, Nuguri was able to get a significant lead against his opposing laner to become a massive threat for the enemy team.

The following is an interview with DAMWON Gaming's top laner, Nuguri.

How do you feel having won your very first LCK match?

Our first match of the LCK was against Gen.G Esports, which is a very powerful team for the likes of us. I really wanted to defeat them today. I'm very happy that we took a 2-0 victory. 


Many people were excited to see the Nuguri vs. CuVee matchup in the top lane. How does it feel that you won?

It’s hard to say that I won my lane. I was able to win thanks to my great teammates. It’s a bit unfortunate and regretful that I couldn’t truly win my lane.


Within the LCK, where would you place yourself among the other top laners?

I believe I’m somewhere in the middle. There isn’t a single ‘bad’ player in the LCK. I don’t want to put my self too high, or too low.


With the addition of coach Jung-Soo Kim, how did the team change?

Before he joined, we used to have a lighthearted, non-serious team atmosphere. When he joined, the team was more properly structured, just like how an LCK team should be. We engage in our duties much more seriously now.


What do you think about the open booth setup of the LoL Park?

It was my first time playing in a circular stadium. I was able to see the opposing team right in front of me! I was extremely nervous, and it was very pressuring. (Laughs)


What is your goal for this season?

I want us to enter the Spring Playoffs and place moderately high. 


Any last words regarding your next match?

Our team was scheduled to play against the top teams early on in the season. I'll make sure to keep my guard up and prepare well for the next matches.
