On the 17th, at the Gangnam Nexon Arena, the 24th day of the '2018 LCK Summer Split Round 2' took place. On the 2nd series of the day, SK Telecom T1 defeated MVP. Although SKT had lost the first game, they proceeded to pull off a reverse sweep to take their 4th win of the split. With this victory, SKT moved up the ladder board to 7th place. In addition, Faker had played his 400th LCK match today.
The following is an interview with Faker.
You've defeated MVP with a score of 2-1. How do you feel?
I went in today with the mindset that we have to win, no matter what it takes. Even today, we were lacking; we'll have to refine ourselves.
You've played your 400th match today. It must feel very special.
Honestly, not really. (Laughs)
Out of the 400, is there a memorable one?
My very first season. Afterward, I stayed focused on my life as a professional gamer, so it's hard to choose just one.
Game 1 didn't play out in your team's favor. You also played Smite Rumble in the midlane. Why do you think you lost that game?
We weren't able to snowball correctly. We made a critical mistake, and it made the game more difficult for us.
It seems like SKT has been trying out a lot of different picks and strategies.
The current meta is very interesting. Looking at the game from the perspective of a professional team, I had thought that individual performance was the most important. However, nowadays, it's a lot more strategical -- there is a lot more to think about.
Why did you play Galio today?
It's a pick that adds a lot of power to your team's early-to-mid game. It was a great pick for team synergy.
Today's match was very important for your team. Currently, you're sitting at 4-6. What is your realistic goal for this split?
First of all, our current form isn't good enough for us to have a good finish for the Summer split. Although there isn't much time, I want our team to do its best to make good results.
Any last words?
The remaining games of Round 2... we'll do our best to win as much as possible.
