Nexon Museum (Director Park Doo-san) will hold its grand opening on May 12 following a four-month renovation. Moving away from a technology-focused exhibition style, the museum has redefined the player as the primary creator of gaming joy. It now positions itself as a gaming brand hub that reinterprets Nexon's 30-year heritage through modern media.
The core concept is bringing users' play history into the physical world, allowing them to experience virtual worlds firsthand. Visitors can encounter numerous IPs spanning generations, including The Kingdom of the Winds, KartRider, MapleStory, Mabinogi, and Dungeon & Fighter, all in one space.
When visitors log in with their Nexon accounts, their play history—previously scattered across multiple games—is consolidated, creating a personalized viewing journey. The matched IP accompanies the visitor from the start to the end of the exhibition. For those without a Nexon account or who choose not to link one, a random IP is assigned, providing an opportunity to explore Nexon's diverse game library.
To celebrate the grand opening, Nexon Museum is debuting two new permanent exhibitions across all three floors that place the player's experience center stage.
The 'Ready 4 Play' space on the first floor recreates the joy of playing arcade and console games, while the exterior media wall displays the nicknames, active game information, and emojis of logged-in players in real time.
The 'Inventory' space on the second floor features an archive covering the history of Korean PC package games from the 1980s to the 2000s, approximately 2500 digital game magazines, and a documentary commemorating Nexon's 30th anniversary. The special exhibition on the same floor, 'The Kingdom of the Winds: The Continuing Wind,' showcases historically significant content, including the legacy of the game ahead of its 30th anniversary in 2026 and nine original drawings by artist Kim Jin.
The third-floor exhibition, 'Hello, My OOO!', is an immersive experience that summons individual digital memories into reality through media art. When visitors tag their admission card at a kiosk, the representative character from their most-played game appears. In the 'Instance Gate' space, a representative NPC from the selected game appears to guide the visitor into the game world.
After the video concludes, a photo mode is unlocked, allowing visitors to take commemorative pictures. The third-floor merchandise zone sells goods from major IPs such as Dungeon & Fighter, Mabinogi Mobile, Blue Archive, The Kingdom of the Winds, Dave the Diver, and Crazy Arcade, along with exclusive Nexon Museum limited-edition items. Nexon Museum Director Park Doo-san stated that he hopes the museum will become a new hub for game culture that players can cherish, and that he will continue to present diverse content where players' experiences and memories can be encountered in reality.
