The 2025 deficit for AD Esports Co., Ltd., the operator of the esports team Dplus KIA, has roughly doubled compared to the previous year.
According to an audit report released on the 16th, AD Esports recorded ₩7.8 billion in revenue for 2025, down from ₩10.6 billion the previous year. While sponsorship revenue remained stable, other revenue streams, including fan business and prize money, saw a significant decline.
The company also implemented overall cost-cutting measures. Total operating expenses, including cost of sales and selling, general, and administrative expenses, amounted to ₩11 billion, a reduction of approximately ₩1.2 billion from the previous year's ₩12.2 billion. Notably, esports-related costs, which are estimated to include player roster maintenance, fell significantly from ₩7.1 billion to ₩6 billion.
However, because revenue declined at a steeper rate, profitability metrics worsened. The operating loss reached ₩3.2 billion, a 100% increase from the ₩1.6 billion loss recorded the previous year. The net loss for the period was ₩3.3 billion.
As of the end of 2025, total assets stood at ₩2.8 billion, while total liabilities reached ₩15.1 billion. This resulted in a total equity of -₩12.3 billion, indicating a state of complete capital impairment. Accumulated deficit stood at ₩27.3 billion.
The company is covering its operational funding shortfall through its parent company. AD Esports is currently borrowing ₩4 billion in short-term loans at an annual interest rate of 4.6% from Abyss Company, which holds a 100% stake in the firm.
Daesung Accounting Corporation, the external auditor, noted in the audit report that "current liabilities exceed current assets by ₩12.9 billion," emphasizing that "this situation raises significant doubt about the company's ability to continue as a going concern."
