The following was sent as a press release to Inven Global.
PUBG MOBILE Esports, the most watched battle royale esports title, is thrilled to reveal the results of the Group Draw for the PUBG MOBILE World Cup (PMWC), part of the Esports World Cup. This crucial stage of the tournament saw 24 teams split into Group Red, Green, and Yellow, where they’ll now battle it out to remain in the first-of-its-kind international event. With this highly-anticipated competition heating up, fans can tune in to the excitement of this deciding stage of the tournament.
The PUBG MOBILE World Cup (PMWC) brings with it a fresh Group Stage format, which will see more regions represented throughout each tournament stage. Teams were split into five unique pools based on their placements in regional PUBG MOBILE Super League (PMSL) events, the Peacekeeper Elite League (PEL), PUBG MOBILE Pro Series (PMPS), PUBG MOBILE Rivals Cup (PMRC), the PUBG MOBILE Japan League (PMJL), alongside the special invitation to Vampire Esports following their outstanding performance in last year’s mid-season tournament.
Teams were drawn at random from the pools, beginning with pool 1 and ending on pool 5 until all teams were assigned a group. Each group consists of eight teams which were filled one at a time, beginning with Group Red and ending with Group Yellow. If there was already a majority of a team’s country representatives in the group, the team was placed in the next available group, ensuring wider regional representation throughout the event.
With the 24 teams assigned to their pools, the Group Stage begins, where teams will battle it out in their respective groups as they compete for their place in the event. The top 12 teams from the Group Stage will qualify for the Main Tournament, with the bottom 12 getting a second chance to stay in the fight, as they join 4 other teams for the Survival Stage, who ranked 5th place during regional PMSL tournaments. This upcoming event will have teams neck-and-neck as they battle it out to be one of the top 4 rejoining the others in the Main Tournament.
