G2 Zven was well-prepared to pick Nunu in MSI 2017
On May 11th (PDT) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; G2 Esports picked up a win against Gigabyte Marines in the fifth match of Day 2 in the Group Stage of Mid-Season Invitational 2017. After the game, Jesper "Zven" Svenningsen was interviewed on stage for his thoughts after the match.
Zven was thrown off by GAM's strategy at first, so they came up with a desperate measure.
"We knew lane swap could happen, but we didn't play it out very well. We did practice lane swap in LCS matches and scrims, but I think we played it wrong in the early game.
Also, their team composition was very mobile, so we didn't know how to play split push against them. So we felt lost on what to do. In the end, we decided to go all-in on mid and it worked out."
As for his Nunu pick, Zven emphasized that it was a prepared pick.
"Personally, I don't like asking for a composition that I think is cool. Instead, I prefer to play compositions that our coach recommends because they actually work.
Our Nunu pick wasn't something that we picked for fun - we've actually practiced it, and it always worked for us."
Although G2 is at 2-2, Zven said that they are not stressed a bit about the results.
"I don't think there's any stress - We played against arguably the two best teams in Day 1, so I thought losing and winning didn't really matter.
Everyone has confidence and good morale, so I don't think there's any stress. If we lose, we are not going to care, so we only have something to gain."
Finally, he thanked the fans for cheering him up when he was disappointed at his performance.
"I didn't feel satisfied at my performance. I was given a lot of chance to carry, but I didn't play to my usual level. So, I was disappointed after first two matches.
However, whenever I went on the stage, everyone was cheering for me; it felt really nice, and I've cheered up a bit. I'm very grateful for the fans."
