While the Knockout Stage of the 2022 LCS Lock In featured four of the five teams from both Group A and B for a total of eight, the teams from one group won significantly more games than the teams from the other. All in all, teams from Group A played 12 total games against teams from Group B, but only managed to win two of them.

All four quarterfinals matchups featured a team from Group A facing off against a team from Group B. 100 Thieves, who secured the top seed in Group A, fell to Dignitas in a 2-0 upset against the defending LCS champions. Team Liquid made quick work of FlyQuest 2-0, and with Golden Guardians starting the Golden Guardians Academy roster in lieu of visa delays for members of their main roster, an undefeated Evil Geniuses had no issue winning that series 2-0 as well. 

The only team to win a match for Group A in the Knockout Stage of the 2022 LCS Lock In was Cloud9. C9 played the Lock In with only two of their starting players, but was still able to topple Counter Logic Gaming 2-1, which accounted for the only wins for a Group A team against a Group B team. C9 was the only Group A team to qualify for the semifinals, but found themselves swiftly eliminated by EG 3-0. 

The winrate of Group A teams against Group B teams is paltry; below 17%.

However, there is plenty of context for this disparity. Group A not only featured C9's hybridized roster with C9 Academy players, but two full academy squads for Golden Guardians and TSM.

Group B, on the other hand, only had two missing starters due to TL's current import situation and Dignitas jungler Kim "River" Dong-woo's arrival shortly before the second week of the tournament.
