Gen.G announced their 7-man roster for the 2021 LoL World Championship. Along with the starting members from last year’s World Championship, two players who joined the LCK roster were included.
Since 2020, Gen.G’s roster was almost always the same: Kim “Rascal” Kwang-hee, Kim “Clid” Tae-min, Gwak “Bdd” Bo-seong, Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk, and Kim “Life” Jeong-min. For Worlds 2021, Noh “Burdol” Tae-yoon and Ko “YoungJae” Yeong-jae will be heading to Iceland. Burdol showed off his ability in the LCK, playing Irelia very aggressively. YoungJae had been playing in Gen.G’s Challengers team until he was called up.
Gen.G will be playing from the Group Stage in Group D to face MAD Lions and Team Liquid. After the Group Draw, the players and coaches of Gen.G predicted that groups A and C will be the groups of death. Picking MAD Lions as the team that they thought to be more difficult, coach Yu “Ggoong” Byeong-jun said, “The experience of becoming a champion is important. If we beat such a team to move on to the next stage, I think we’ll gain more confidence.”
In Team Liquid, Jo “CoreJJ” Yong-in, who held the Summoner’s Cup as a member of Gen.G (Samsung Galaxy). About this, head coach Ju “oDin” Yeong-dal said, “It doesn’t feel too special, but it is a bit interesting that I’ll be facing CoreJJ in a competition, and I think it’ll be fun.”
