On day 22 of the 2021 LCK Summer split, T1 swept the current 1st place team, Gen.G, 2-0 in the first match of the day, finishing round 1 with a 5-4 record. Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong, was subbed in for Park “Teddy” Jin-seong against Gen.G this match and helped the team lead to victory.
After the match, the head coach for T1, Yang “Daeny” Dae-in, joined the press room for a post-match interview, in which he had a lot to talk about the current state of the game. However, he emphasized the fact that there was a message that he really wanted to give to the franchise star/legendary mid laner for T1, Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok.
“I was an incredibly huge fan of Faker for a very long time; even during my PUBG days. I really wanted to work with Faker as a LoL coach; after I won Worlds last year, I had the chance to practically choose whichever team I could work with for this season. I chose T1 without hesitation, and I’m personally very grateful for the opportunity.”
“However, as the head coach for T1, my job is to make sure that the team wins. Our relationship is built around victory, and in that process, there will inevitably be clashes in opinions; finding the middle ground is critical. One clear thing that exists with all of my players and I, is that there wasn’t a moment when we weren’t serious.”
“We now head into round 2, and there’s still matches that we have to win. I’m very sorry to make this request to the fans, but please continue to support us with a bit more patience. T1 is full of very talented players, and the coaching staff also has experience in leading a World champion team. We’ll make it, no matter what. I’m really okay, but sometimes, I watch the players struggle, and it really sucks to see them struggle. I’m still very confident that we’ll succeed, so please, a little more patience would be incredibly grateful.”
