On the 1st (KST), Gen.G took down SeolHaeOne Prince in round 2 of the 2020 LCK Summer Split. With a set score of 2-0, GEN dominated SP right from the laning phase. With Ruler-Life bot lane dominating their lane opponents, they proved why they’re a championship contending team of the Summer split.
The support player for Gen.G, Life, joined the press room for a post-match interview.
How does it feel to take down SP and firmly defend your place as one of the top three teams in the LCK?
Not only were there a lot of fights, there were also many kills as well. There was no time to breathe during the game, and I was a little worried when we couldn’t snowball the game quickly.
How Gen.G’s bot lane plays out the laning phase is very impressive. Ruler stated in his POG interview that he’s pretty much doing everything in lane. Do you have anything to say about this?
The thing that confuses me is that it seems like ADCs do have a lot of impact in lane. However, I believe that both players need to step up and perform to be really good.
However, don’t people say that supports do 80% of the work in lane? Doesn’t that make you somewhat frustrated?
I feel that it’s just an old stereotype. Nowadays, it’s never like that.
You played against every single bot lane of the LCK teams. Apart from yourself and Ruler, who’s the other bot lane that you think plays very well?
It would have to be Mystic-Ben of Afreeca Freecs. Perhaps it’s their LPL experience, but they have both LPL and LCK characteristics. They’re very fierce.
Have you seen the comic with Bdd in it? What did you think about it?
I didn’t really think too much about it. I just laughed. The team didn’t really talk about it internally as well.
Gen.G’s next match is against DAMWON Gaming. Can we hear your thoughts on the team?
Not only do their upper lanes play very well, they’re very strong in lane. While their bot lane may seem weaker in comparison, based on experience, they at least go 50-50. All the members are very good.
Can you tell us your thoughts on the Ghost-BeryL duo in DWG’s bot lane?
They always do the right things to match the other three members of the team. In terms of our team, we always play situationally, rather than putting a lot of focus on our bot lane.
Details about this year’s World Championships have been announced.
I really want to go, and if I do, I’m going to be working towards getting great results without any breaks in between.
Lastly, is there anything you want to say?
Afreeca Freecs, fighting! I personally am a big fan of AF, so although we’ll outperform them, I still wish the best for them.
