With Boston’s 3-1 victory over Shanghai, they’ve taken the #1 spot in the Overwatch League standings. And considering their upcoming schedule, it looks likely that they will tie with NYXL’s current 11-game win streak and possibly surpass it. Game design and balance is not simple and no one should discredit the hard work that goes into it. But it would be a shame if Blizzard denied the quality, valuable feedback the pro community provides for free in favor of pushing obviously flawed, all too frequent patches on its passionate, but exhausted, fanbase.
With Coach KyKy and Rascal’s release, many were looking forward to see Dallas Fuel’s new changes in action vs. San Francisco Shock. What they did not expect was a 0-4 defeat for Dallas. In what may have been the worst showing in Overwatch League on Temple of Anubis, Dallas failed to make the first tick on Point A. Much of blame seems to fall on aKm’s Genji.
At present, teams have limited time to experiment and become comfortable with updated patches during breaks, and their focus during a stage is obviously on their imminent matches. If the game pros are playing is going to change drastically between stages, then it only makes sense for their adjustment period to be extended.
However, Custa has admitted the team is in a honeymoon phase. Their wins have been against Shanghai Dragons, Seoul Dynasty’s B-Team, San Francisco Shock and now Dallas Fuel. Their hardest matches are yet to come.
