Though many teams have found their rosters for the 2020 season of League of Legends esports already, there's still some movement going on. Today, Griffin announced the signing of Lee "GBM" Chang-seok. It's not his usual mid lane role GBM will reprise in for the LCK team, however: he will be joining the organization as a coach.
The signing marks a return of GBM to the LCK after four years, during which he played for teams such as Vitality, Royal Youth, and Galatasaray. GBM left the latter of those teams in November this year, after which he came forward about Galatasaray's delayed payment in an exclusive interview with Inven Global.
In Griffin, GBM is joining a team that's looking to start 2020 with a clean slate after controversies surrounding their former head coach cvMax. It subsequently came to light that the company had been mismanaged so severely that Riot Korea intervened. All players of Griffin were granted Free Agency status—some of whom seized the opportunity to leave—and Riot declared that all of Griffin's management had to be replaced before the end of 2019.
