From the 23rd (KST), the Korea e-Sports Association (KeSPA) will be holding the ‘2019 League of Legends ULSAN’.
The KeSPA Cup is a short-term League of Legends tournament in Korea, where amateur teams and pro teams all come together to compete. It’s a chance to get a sneak peek at how the pro teams are preparing for next year, and to also meet the young and upcoming prospects in the LoL scene.
This year’s KeSPA cup will consist of 20 teams in total, with 10 teams from the LCK, 7 teams from Challengers Korea, and the top 3 teams from the 2019 KeG tournament. The tournament is in a 16 round format, with 2 rounds only in the quarterfinals. Matches will be a Bo3 up to the quarterfinals, and Bo5s from the semifinals and the finals. The top 4 teams in the 2019 Championship Points, T1, Griffin, DAMWON Gaming, and SANDBOX Gaming, are granted a bye into the second round of the quarterfinals.
The round of 16 and both rounds of the quarterfinals will be held on the 23rd to the 31st (KST) at the NEXON Arena in Gangnam, Seoul. The quarterfinals and the finals of the tournament will be held at the KBS Ulsan Hall in Ulsan, from Jan. 3rd to the 5th (KST). The total prize pool is 158,000,000 KRW (just under $140,000 USD), which is 1.5 times more than last year. In addition, the winning team will be granted official goods from HyperX, and the MVP of the tournament will be awarded a customized PC from GEEKSTAR.
