SKT Faker on the Pre-game 1v1s: "I think the editor is sending out only the 1v1s I lose."

SK Telecom T1 continued to run at full speed by defeating Afreeca Freecs 2-0. On the 3rd (KST), extended their winning streak to 9 and placed themselves at 2nd in the 2019 LCK Summer Split standings. In the match, Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok and Kim “Clid” Tae-min delivered top-notch performances and were voted as MVPs. Especially, Clid stole three consecutive major objectives to lead the team to victory.

How do you feel about today’s win?

Faker: I had kind of a bad feeling about today, but I’m relieved that we won.

Clid: I think it’s a very positive thing that we’re continuing the winning streak.

In Game 1, you let through Corki and picked Rakan first. What led to that decision?

Faker: Effort plays Rakan well aggressively, so we made that choice. We all had faith in the bot lane, so that was the main reason.

Many people are curious about the Baron shotcall in Game 1. You told Kennen not to teleport.

Faker: For our team, it’s a benefit even if the top laner dies. (Laughs) I didn’t think it was necessary for him to come. As for the shotcall; in that situation, anybody should go for Baron, so it wasn’t that special.

In your opinion, is your decision-making a result of talent or countless effort?

Faker: There are many times I attempt Baron and get run over… I think it’s a result of pure effort.

(To Clid) It was a very difficult early game for SKT in Game 2. Did you think you can turn the game around?

Clid: Our composition was better in the late game, so we all thought we should play slow. That led to a good result.

And your Smites were really on point, stealing three consecutive major objectives. How did the Baron steal happen?

Clid: For the Baron steal, I knew that Lee Sin didn’t have his ult, and I used my ult on him so that he can’t use Smite.

(To Faker) It was your first Karma pick in the summer. How did you decide to pick her?

Faker: The opponent’s picks were charging champions, so I picked Karma. One thing that was regretful was that I took Kleptomancy, but they were so poor that not much came out. (Laughs)

And you need to explain yourself. The Ezreal 1v1 was revealed. Did you try to hide it because you lost?

Faker: No, it isn’t. I think the editor is sending out only the 1v1s I lose. (Laughs)

You have 3 matches left to win to win all matches in Round 2. What are your plans?

Clid: We’re on a great winning streak. I’ll do my best so that we can keep it going.

Faker: We do only have three matches left, but the matches during the postseason are also very important. It’ll be important to keep our momentum with the winning streak. We’ll deliver even better performance in the future.
