On the 3rd of March (KST), in the 2019 LCK Spring Split Day 29 match between Gen.G Esports and Hanwha Life Esports, Hanwha Life Esports came back after losing Game 1 to win the match. In the match, Park “Thal” Kwon-hyuk delivered solid performances in games 2 and 3 to lead the team to victory.
Below is an interview with Thal.
You won an important match for the team. How do you feel?
It really was an important match for us to get to the postseason. I’m happy that we won.
In Game 1, you let through several champions that Gen.G are known to be good at. What were your intentions?
It’s been long since Lava played on stage; we didn’t expect them to ban three mid lane champions so our draft wasn’t very good. We were able to react to their strategy from game 2 and I think that was why we were able to win.
One of the main moments were when bonO’s Zac cut off Roach’s Fiora. How were the calls at that moment?
The Yorick vs Fiora matchup was unadvantageous for me. I kept telling bonO to come right away when I started fighting and we were able to gain a kill because of that.
Sylas was the first pick in Game 3. Was it possible to flex it to mid so Lava could play him?
Of course. We both practiced Sylas and were ready. The lanes were decided according to their picks. But mostly, we thought of me playing Sylas.
Game 3 was very fierce and close in the early game. When were you sure that you’ve won?
We were quite sure after the second dragon teamfight. I stole Irelia’s ult and initiated a teamfight. We had a big win so I was sure that we won after that.
A word to Lava who appeared in a long time?
Lava is very aggressive. If he’s able to keep his temper inside him, he has the ability to become one of the best mid laners. I hope he can do that. (Laughs)
Your next opponent is Jin Air Green Wings. How will you prepare for the match?
Although they’re in last place, they’re a competitive team. Since we’re practicing with the goal of winning all remaining matches, we’ll be more concentrated than ever.
Any last comments?
I’d like to thank everybody for all the support. We still have a good chance to get to the postseason; we’ll be delivering better performance in the future.
