On October 11-12th, the University of California, Irvine hosted its first annual Esports Conference (ESC 2018) at its Southern California campus. The conference offered a number of esports talks, tournaments, and seminars, and featured a host of excellent speakers, from former NFL player Chris Kluwe to the Director of Strategic Partnerships for Twitch, Mark Garvey Candella, to Tempo Storm founder Andrey "Reynad" Yanyuk.
In partnership with Inven Global, ESC 2018 hosted the League of Legends West Coast Invitational Finals; a $5000 Destiny Child Cosplay Contest (also in partnership with LINE Games); a $3000 Hyper Universe showmatch between UCI and UCR (University of California, Riverside); and, a LoL showmatch between UCI and KMOU (Korea Maritime and Ocean University).
ESC also featured a Super Smash Bros. exhibition match; a Hearthstone Fireside gathering; and, an Overwatch showmatch featuring UCI Overwatch players and members of the Los Angeles Valiant. Inven Global hosted a live giveaway featuring a prize wheel and Logitech gear, and games like Hyper Universe were available and free to play at the event.
The weekend was a blast and we hope you’ll join us next time! But for now, here is Inven Global at ESC 2018 (in pictures):
