Gaming software company Minkonet has secured five new patents __ two in United States and three in Korea __ related to gameplay broadcasting and viewing, it announced.
Minkonet now has 14 patents in total. It has 11 patents in South Korea, 10 are registered and 1 with notice of allowance. In the US is has 3 patents, 1 registered and 2 with notice of allowances.
Majority of these patents are related to gameplay image processing technology.
A gamer’s gameplay within the game’s virtual space is recorded and delivered to the user. Gamers can use the recorded video to create various interactive, 360-degree or multi-camera contents.
Eight patents, 5 in South Korea and 3 in the US, related to improving the gamer’s game skill by providing timely, recommended playback coaching videos when the player fails a mission. The other 6 patents, 5 in South Korea and 3 in the US, use the same technology but are on applying advertisements that don’t hamper game play.
In today’s age of spectacular global e-Sports growth, Minkonet’s patents be used to provide content and a differentiated viewing experiences for players in leagues, professional teams, amateur teams and fan clubs.
The patented playback videos will provide gamers with accessible viewing experience as well as opportunities to smoothly keep up with game match situations.
E-Sports matches can be provided as contents by combining them with the additional visualized data provided by Minkonet’s patents for analysis and used as educational materials for training by professional and amateur gamers.
They technology can also be applied to cloud gaming environments such as the popular Nvidia’s Gefore Now and Google Project Stream for an interactive live viewing experience for e-Sports matches with installing a game client.
