After a 3-1 victory on Friday, London Spitfire continued their grand finals hot streak with a 3-0 sweep against Philadelphia Fusion. While the crowd was clearly on Fusion's side (even gently booing Spitfire at times) the original Stage 1 champions were unphased. 

Spitfire's Gesture said as much after their first match win:

Spitfire easily took Junkertown during game 1 and had an even more successful game 2 on Lijiang Tower. Profit and Birdring, the explosive DPS duo, continued to wow the audience of over 11,000 Barclay Center guests with headshots and flashy kills but, even according Fusion EQO, the true stars were Tanks:

Gesture and Fury enabling their DPS stars was a common theme in Spitfires explosive victories on the Grand Finals stage. Profit seemed nigh unstoppable on Hanzo, but it was Gestures zone control and communication that allowed the 4 kill Dragon Strikes and max value follow-ups whenever a timely Hanzo pick off occurred.

Bdosin, a consistently impressive flex player was particularly impactful on Junkertown and Kings Row as Roadhog. Constantly bullying Fusion's front line, during game 1 he secured a visually stunning predicted hook on the Sado's Orisa that secured the first checkpoint.

Fusion fallen

It's hard to pinpoint why Fusion seemed so hopeless vs. Spitfire on day 2. Considering the team's impressive victory vs. NYXL in the playoffs, fans predicted an extremely close competition between the two teams. 

Instead, we saw the individual performances of Spitfire overwhelm Fusion time and time again. A high mark for Fusion was during game 3 when they grinded out a full push on Kings Row. Their defense was filled with inspiring moments, including a Carpe electrifying the crowd with expert Doomfist play. However, Spitfire answered back just as strong with a huge Earth Shatter from Gesture tying up the game 3 points to 3.

From there, Spitfire had 1 minute and 10 seconds to capture 1/3 of the control meter. Just one tick would secure their spot as Overwatch League Champions.

And that is exactly what they did. With 30 seconds to spare on the clock, Spitfire had won.

For winning in the Grand Finals, London Spitfire have earned $1 million dollars and secured their spot in history as the first Overwatch League champions.
