It was revealed today that Seoul Dynasty has partnered together with two notable figures in the Korean music industry to create an exclusive walk-on song during their OWL matches. Rapper pH-1 and Producer DaviDior (who produced tracks for Justin Beiber and DJ Khaled) worked with Dynasty to create a song with "tremendous energy" in order to positively influence the team's morale.
The song features lyrics referencing positive KDR's, new skins, and being covered in shields thanks to your loyal teammates. These subtle nods (they pass as non-game related lyrics) to Overwatch make the song understandable whether or not you follow the game.
According to current MVP candidate and Dynasty player, Kim "Fleta" Byung-sun, the song is a big hit amongst the team:
“Listening to the walk-on song is like a shot of adrenaline through the body. The track gets us pumped to play, but also keeps us focused and reminds us of our heritage and drive to make our fans proud.”
DaviDior seems equally pleased with the resulting work:
“I wanted to let the team know that I’m going to support them from beginning to end, and I thought this was a great opportunity to do something innovative and work with the game and team I love. I want to thank Blizzard and the Seoul Dynasty organization for making it happen, and I expect we’ll see more great collaborations with music and gaming in the future.”
This is all part of a larger plan that started with KSV's rebranding itself to Gen.G esports. The organization, using its top-tier esports teams as brand advocates, are creating "new lifestyle collaborations" that aim to further cement fans love of Korean culture, music, and style.
You can catch the song's debut during Seoul Dynasty’s match entrance today at 8:00 PM PDT. They will be playing against Philadephia Fusion: a formidable opponent in game but clearly outmatched when it comes to the walk-out metagame.
