Kongdoo Monster crushed ESC Ever 2-0 to secure their spot in the 2016 LoL KeSPA Cup Finals. All of KDM showed solid performances throughout the entire match, and ESC were unable to stop their snowball.
We had the opportunity to sit down with Minhyuk "Punch" Son, KDM's jungler, for a short post-match interview.
How are you feeling right now?
We won easily as expected. I feel relieved.
Is there anything you would point to as the driving force behind today's 2-0 victory?
Since our summer season elimination/promotion tournament, preparing as well as I can for each game became second nature to me. I think that helped a lot.
StarCraft 2 legend Minchul "MC" Jang joined as your new coach.
He had an excellent StarCraft 2 career. He has helped improve our mindset a lot.
Would you like to say anything to your coach?
I have known him personally for a long time. He gave me a lot of advice back when I was an amateur and put me on the path to pro. I am very grateful.
You also qualified for IEM Gyeonggi. Thoughts?
That ticket was meant for the winner of this tournament. SKT and ROX being on the other side of the semifinals gave us the ticket, so we were a bit lucky. It feels good. I am not sure if we will do well in our very first international event, but I have been practicing hard lately and I think it will pay off.
Which team do you think you'll meet in the finals? SKT or ROX?
They are both really good teams, and I think it would be a great experience to face either.
How are you going to prepare for the finals?
Well, it's going to be played tomorrow. We do have an idea of how we're going to draft against both teams, however.
