LPL's top seed is in danger of an early elimination from Worlds.
Anyone's Legend (AL) suffered a crushing defeat against Top Esports (TES) in Round 2 of the Swiss stage at the 2026 LoL World Championship (Worlds), held at the Credit Union of Texas Event Center in Allen, Texas on October 25 KST. Following their loss to Karmine Corp the previous day, another defeat pushed them to the brink with a 0-2 record.
Speaking to Inven in a video interview after the match against TES, AL's Korean jungler Lee "Tarzan" Seung-yong expressed his disappointment, saying, "After losing the Karmine Corp match, we held a lot of team meetings and prepared extensively. However, repeated mistakes kept happening. It feels like we were all a bit nervous as well. I don't think we were able to show our true skill."
He spoke candidly about the team's current situation, adding, "After yesterday's loss, I talked a lot with my teammates about our draft and in-game issues. But in today's match, not only did we make the same mistakes as yesterday, but other problems arose at the same time, leaving things quite chaotic. I think this outcome happened because nothing clicked well."
Facing elimination, Tarzan emphasized the need to reorganize everything quickly despite the short preparation time. "Losing means everything was a problem," he said. "I think the defeat was a combination of issues across drafting, in-game play, and communication. We need to communicate with each other again step by step, watch other teams' matches, and learn quickly."
The best-of-one (BO1) matches are now over. All remaining Swiss stage matches with elimination on the line will be played as best-of-three (BO3) series. Regarding this, Tarzan explained, "I think there is a bit more breathing room than in single games. Whether you win or lose the first game, there's a next game. I feel we can prepare a bit more comfortably compared to BO1s."
Though they entered Worlds with momentum as LPL's top seed, AL and Tarzan found themselves pushed to the brink in just two days. Taking a sober look at the team's current situation, he remarked, "With this level of performance, even if our record were 2-0 right now, I think it would be hard to aim for the championship." He added, "Above all, we need to restore our form quickly. At this rate, even if we luckily reach the quarterfinals, we won't be able to put on a good performance."
Finally, Tarzan concluded the interview expressing his determination to survive: "Although we are 0-2, we won't give up until the end. I think we need to go back today, reflect deeply, and communicate a lot. I will prepare hard so we can survive as long as possible at this Worlds and reach as high as we can."
