Meleys, the dragon known as the Red Queen, will join Game of Thrones: Dragonfire when the mobile strategy game's next campaign begins on September 24th.
The game is based on House of the Dragon, the Emmy Award-winning HBO series, and was announced as the latest addition by Warner Bros. Games and HBO. According to a release, Meleys has been the most requested dragon among the game's players worldwide.
To unlock her, players must have progressed through two of the game's seasonal Reigns. After that, they can claim her Legendary Relics in the Hatchery and add her to their armies.
What Meleys brings to battle
In the game, Meleys is a Legendary Warrior breed. Warner Bros. Games said her design was modelled on the dragon's on-screen appearance, including her red scales. The release also describes her as one of the fastest dragons in the Seven Kingdoms.
Her Command skill is called Scarlet Strike. It targets the enemy with the highest Initiative, and the publisher has positioned Meleys as a frontline unit built around dealing physical damage.
Her rider, Princess Rhaenys Targaryen, also arrives with the update. In the third campaign, players will be able to pledge themselves to Rhaenys, who becomes available as a faction leader. The show refers to her as 'the Queen Who Never Was'.
New developer diary looks at dragon design
Warner Bros. Games has also released a new episode of Dragonfire Chronicles, its developer diary series. This one covers how the studio recreated the show's dragons for mobile.
According to the release, the team worked directly with HBO's original dragon models. The episode shows the game's Art, Narrative and Design teams working together on each dragon's breed, abilities and visual identity.
Season 3 viewing rewards still available
Players who haven't finished the third season of House of the Dragon can still pick up in-game rewards. By linking their HBO Max and Warner Bros. Games accounts, they unlock a reward for each episode they watch. Finishing the whole season unlocks Caraxes, another dragon from the show.
Game of Thrones: Dragonfire is a free-to-play strategy game developed by Warner Bros. Games Boston. It is set during the Targaryen Civil War, a conflict depicted in House of the Dragon. Players take on the role of a Valyrian descendant who hatches and raises dragons, leads armies and forms alliances, with battles playing out on a tile-based map.
The game is available on iOS through the App Store and on Android through Google Play.
