Beings as small as dust, yet troublemakers who sometimes shake the world—that is how the team name 'Space Trouble Club' came to be.
The team that won the Grand Prize at GXG SOUND TRACK 2025 started with two composers who were school classmates.
As a main vocalist for recording, session musicians to play instruments, and chorus members joined one by one, the team grew in size. Taking the stage with a soundtrack inspired by NEOWIZ's 'Lies of P,' they reached the top. What they held onto was not a catchy melody, but a single strand of emotion: Sophia's sacrifice and memories.
Their performance was not without hiccups. An issue with the keyboard during the show halted the performance, but thanks to main vocalist Minseo's calm handling of the situation, the stage resumed. Just as they gave up hope on winning due to the mishap, their name was unexpectedly called for the Grand Prize, causing tears to burst forth. The story of NEOWIZ employees coming down below the stage after the awards ceremony to hand them a signed vinyl LP offers a glimpse into a moment where those who made the game and those who translated that game into music stood on the very same emotional ground.
Space Trouble Club is a team that crafts its own distinct color by layering orchestral and synth sounds. We listened to the story of those who experienced that moment when gaming becomes music.

What kind of team is Space Trouble Club?
“Our Space Trouble Club was created with the goal of producing soundtracks suitable for animation and games. Centered around two composers, we have produced songs in various styles, and by chance, we created a game soundtrack inspired by Lies of P to enter the competition, which led us to win the Grand Prize. The team name Space Trouble Club was chosen with the meaning of being a gathering of troublemakers who, though mere dust-like beings in the vast universe, sometimes create special events big enough to shake the world.
How did the members meet?
“Originally, the team consisted of only two composers who were school classmates, but as we gathered a main vocalist for recordings, session musicians for instrumentals, and chorus singers, our size gradually grew. Currently, all members are seniors and juniors from the same school.
What made you decide to participate in GXG SOUND TRACK?
“Our team's direction was usually leaning toward animation music, and our composers were always very interested in creating game OSTs. When we happened to see an announcement for a game music contest, we produced a track and submitted our entry.
Has anything changed after participating in GXG?
“Right after winning the Grand Prize, we had a team dinner and talked about our future direction. Currently, we are preparing to release an album featuring our Grand Prize-winning track 'Hollow's Puppet' and our next track, 'Nebula' (성운). Although not all members can remain together due to various reasons, we are working steadily to release songs and continue Space Trouble Club's activities.
Which element of the game inspired you the most? And what aspects did you keep in mind while working on the song?
“Our greatest inspiration was the theme of Sophia's sacrifice and memories. Playing the game, the scene that left the most lasting impression on us was Sophia's final choice, and we wanted to express that emotion through music. So we started the track with sadness and emptiness as the focal point, adding orchestral and hybrid sounds to concentrate on capturing Sophia's emotions along with the world of Lies of P.

What was the aspect you focused on most while preparing for the finals performance?
“The aspect we focused on most was immersion. So that even those unfamiliar with the game could naturally feel the world of Lies of P and Sophia's emotions while watching the performance, we meticulously refined the performance dynamics, the vocal emotional arc, and the balance between orchestral and electronic sounds. We prepared it so that it wouldn't be just music to listen to, but a stage performance akin to a musical.
How would you express your feelings in one word at the moment you won the Grand Prize?
“It was truly overwhelming. Actually, on the day of the performance, a problem occurred with the keyboard, but Minseo, our main vocalist, handled it skillfully and we were able to resume the performance. At that time, we thought we wouldn't be able to win the Grand Prize because of the mishap, but when we unexpectedly received the Grand Prize among such strong competitors, we were overjoyed beyond words and even shed tears.
Many of our session musicians are genuinely passionate gamers. Because of that, everyone listens to and loves game music very often. More than anything, we were happy that our efforts were recognized and given high praise in the genre we love most and have worked hardest on. Rather than the prize money or the result itself, the fact that the emotions and stories we wanted to convey through music reached so many people was what mattered most to us.
Was there any memorable reaction after winning the award?
“What stood out most to us was how NEOWIZ sincerely congratulated us after the award. Our two composers were moved by Sophia's story after playing Lies of P and created a somewhat profound song themed around Lies of P. The staff from NEOWIZ came down in person to give us a signed vinyl LP and gave us heartfelt encouragement and congratulations, for which we were extremely grateful. We are still deeply thankful even today. :)
What do you think is the biggest difference between game music and popular music?
“I think the biggest difference is that game music is music that conveys a story and experience rather than just the melody or tune itself. While popular music focuses on catchiness or a great melody in itself, game music plays a role in completing the story, characters, and gameplay experience together. That's why I think capturing the worldview and emotions even within a single track is the most important thing.

If you were to stand on the GXG SOUND TRACK stage again right now, which game would you choose and what kind of performance would you like to create?
“We would probably choose League of Legends. It's a game all our team members really love, and each character and universe has such distinct traits that there are so many elements we can express through music. Above all, since it's a game we genuinely love, we feel we could create an even more immersive and polished performance.
What meaning do you think GXG SOUND TRACK holds for creators?
“I believe GXG SOUND TRACK is a valuable stage where creators who make game music can showcase their work directly and connect with many people. Especially for growing game music composers or indie artists, it serves as a great opportunity to gain new experience and step onto a larger stage. In our case, although we were a team that enjoyed making game music regularly, I think it's also a great chance to instill the image that game music isn't difficult and can be accessible music, even for creators who aren't familiar with game music.
Do you have any upcoming plans or goals currently in preparation?
“Currently, we are focusing on our original compositions while preparing for an album release that includes 'Hollow's Puppet' and 'Nebula.' Moving forward, our goal is to consistently create music inspired by games and various content, presenting works that feature our own original blend of orchestral and synth sounds.
Could you share a word of encouragement for the participants of GXG 2026?
“While results are important, we hope it becomes a stage where you can freely express the games and music you truly love. We hope you enjoy it to the end and put on a performance with no regrets. We are sincerely rooting for all the participants of GXG 2026!
How does GXG SOUND TRACK winner Space Trouble Club define 'Games are Culture'?
“We believe that gaming is not merely simple entertainment or content, but a part of culture that creates memories, emotional moments, and new experiences for people. Furthermore, we think its value lies in how games allow us to share and empathize with music and stories together.
