HBO has officially confirmed the production of the second season of its Harry Potter drama series. Filming for Season 2 is scheduled to begin this autumn.
On the 7th (KST), multiple foreign media outlets, including the BBC and Variety, reported on the production of the second season. While the title for Season 2 has not been announced, it is expected to adapt the second book in the series, 'Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.'
HBO previously announced plans to adapt all seven books of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series into seven seasons over the next decade.
John Brown, a writer for Season 1 and known for the drama 'Succession,' will serve as a co-producer for Season 2 alongside Francesca Gardiner. Gardiner stated that bringing Brown on board was key to maintaining the production's momentum, describing him as a fantastic collaborator and a wonderful person.
Brown also expressed his excitement about continuing his work on the series, saying, "It seems it's never too late to be invited to Hogwarts."
The HBO-produced Harry Potter series is a new project launched to mark the 25th anniversary of the original film franchise. The entire cast has been replaced, and the first look at Season 1 was revealed in an official teaser last March.
The first season, 'Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone,' is set to premiere on HBO Max this Christmas, December 25. In South Korea, it will be available exclusively through Coupang Play.
