NHN announced on the 28th that '#Compass: Combat Providence Analysis System' (hereinafter '#Compass'), a real-time battle game co-developed by its Japanese subsidiary NHN PlayArt and Dwango, has surpassed 20 million cumulative downloads in the Japanese market. Now in its 10th year, the title reached this milestone two years after hitting 18 million downloads in May 2024. In a market environment where mobile game lifespans are shortening and competition from new releases is intensifying, the game continues to expand its user base a decade after launch.

The online and offline presence of '#Compass' was highlighted at 'Niconico Chokaigi 2026,' held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan, on the 25th and 26th. The event is a cultural festival where fans experience subculture content—including videos, games, streaming, and cosplay—in person. According to the organizers, the event drew 138,228 visitors.
Having participated in the event every year since its 2016 launch, '#Compass' hosted a dedicated booth. This year's booth featured a communication function that connected the physical venue with an online livestream, allowing users to interact via comments. Ahead of a collaboration with the animated film 'Chainsaw Man – Reze Arc,' the game showcased a live demonstration of the new hero 'Reze' on stage. Other activities included '#Compass Q,' a mobile-based quiz competition, and a cosplay show.
Offline events will continue in the second half of the year. The '#Compass Street Caravan 2026' will tour major cities, starting in Takasaki in July, followed by Fukuoka in August, and Sapporo and Kyoto in September. On December 20, the company will host the '#Compass 10th Anniversary Festival' to mark the milestone.
'#Compass' is an action-strategy game set in a virtual social networking world where 3v3 teams compete to capture bases within three minutes. It features deck-building strategy using combinations of characters and cards. The game's music, created by Vocaloid artists from the Niconico Douga platform, and its world-building are integrated with in-game social community features.
'#Compass' reached No. 1 on the local Apple App Store revenue chart in December 2025 and won the 'Best Ongoing Game' award from global app analytics firm Sensor Tower in February. Other titles, such as the 2014 release 'LINE: Disney Tsum Tsum' and the 2015 release 'Yo-Kai Watch Wibble Wobble,' also remain high on the Japanese revenue charts. The new title 'Dissidia Dueloom Final Fantasy,' released in March, reached No. 2 in popularity and No. 9 in revenue across both major app stores. As a result, NHN now has four titles in the top 50 for revenue in Japan.

Leveraging its live service expertise, NHN PlayArt is currently developing its next wave of titles, including '[Oshi no Ko] Puzzle Star,' 'Touken Ranbu Puzz-giri,' 'Puchipoyon of the Fantasy World,' 'Suuuiplash!,' and 'Project MM.'
An NHN official stated, "Building on the success of '#Compass' as it reaches its 10th anniversary and our proven live service capabilities, we will continue to expand our game business competitiveness in both the Japanese and global markets."
