Mario at 40: Galaxy, Wonder, Yoshi, and More Join the Celebration

The first titles introduced share their names with the film: Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2. The two games will launch together as a compilation on October 2 for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Super Mario Galaxy is an adventure set against the backdrop of outer space, while its sequel, long dormant since the Wii era, returns after 15 years.

In these titles, you can read the picture-book in Rosalina’s Library, and this new release adds an all-new page to that storybook. The picture-book will also be published as a real, physical book on October 2, timed to the games’ release. A new pair of Super Mario Galaxy amiibo is slated for release on April 2, 2026.

The latest entry in Mario Tennis, Mario Tennis Fever, arrives on February 12, 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2. This installment supports a full range of shot types—topspin, slice, and lob—as well as defense-oriented movement like slides and footwork.

A new element, the Fever Racket, also makes its debut. As rallies continue, a gauge fills; once full, you can unleash a Fever Shot with special effects. There are 30 racket types in total, including the Ice Racket, which freezes the court, and a racket that spawns a mushroom that shrinks players. The character roster features 38 playable characters, the largest in the series.

A variety of game modes are included. Mission Tower challenges you with consecutive missions as you climb toward the top floor. Special Games let you battle under unique rules. Online play features Room Match and Ranked Match. There’s also a Swing Mode that lets you use the Joy-Con as a racket, and a Story Mode where Mario—having turned into baby form—sets out on an adventure. (“Swing Mode” is the established English term in Mario Tennis Aces and related Nintendo materials.)

A Super Mario Bros. Wonder edition for Switch 2 is slated for spring 2026. New activities that everyone can enjoy together will be added to the world of Wonder. Beyond that, additional features are planned for the Switch 2 edition; further details will be announced later.

Also making the leap into the real world is the Talking Flower from Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Launching in spring 2026, it will occasionally start chattering on its own to liven up everyday life.  Capping off the announcements for the 40th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. was a brand-new game: Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Coming in spring 2026, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book follows Yoshi as he sets out to investigate a mysterious compendium, embarking on an expedition through stages filled with discoveries and new encounters. More detailed information will be revealed at a later date.
