Roguelike naval strategy Reclaim the Sea launches on Steam

Independent studio 1 Last Game Studio has released its debut title, Reclaim the Sea, on Steam for Windows PCs, offering a 20 percent launch discount through July 21 at $9.59 USD (€9.43 EUR). The single-player roguelike strategy title blends naval combat, resource management and branching narrative events as players guide a motley crew across a flooded world.

Set in a steampunk-inspired archipelago, Reclaim the Sea casts gamers as the captain of a rebel vessel charting randomized routes through ten unique zones, each featuring dynamic weather, environmental hazards and chance encounters. Crewmembers drawn from diverse fantasy races can be assigned to tasks such as firing cannons, repairing hull breaches, putting out fires and activating the ship’s mystical Arcane Tower.

Encounters with adversary ships vary with each run. Opponents belong to distinct factions with customized loadouts and combat behaviors, requiring strategic positioning and precise cannon targeting to prevail. Resource caches discovered during voyages fund permanent upgrades between attempts, enabling players to acquire new weapons, ship systems and powerful figureheads that synergize with selected crew skills.

Narrative events punctuate each journey, presenting moral dilemmas and long-term consequences that influence available routes and alliances. Those seeking an early taste can download the newly updated demo on Steam, which showcases the opening two zone types and core mechanics.

Reclaim the Sea supports English, French, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese and is published in China by Indienova and worldwide by 1 Last Game Studio. The developer has outlined a roadmap of free updates and expansions set to arrive post-launch, with further details available on the official site.

Founded by a veteran tech lead with over two decades of industry experience, one-person outfit 1 Last Game Studio aims to deliver passionate, handcrafted adventures. Reclaim the Sea marks its first foray into the indie gaming landscape.
