Riot Games has unveiled the theme song and music video for the 2023 League of Legends World Championship, one of the most prestigious esports events globally.
The theme song, titled 'GODS', features the artist NewJeans, a global sensation, as the lead artist. NewJeans delivers powerful vocals, infusing the unique essence of the LoL World Championship into 'GODS.' The song was orchestrated by Riot Games' Senior Composer Sebastien Najand and Alex Seaver, known for his work on several previous World Championship theme songs, including 'Legends Never Die.
The music video for this theme song portrays the efforts and triumphs of the players challenging the LoL World Championship, with a focus on Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu, one of the most prominent figures in the competition. The video showcases pivotal moments, including Deft's school days shared with Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, and dramatic scenes featuring champions such as Ezreal and Caitlyn, iconic to Deft. It also pays tribute to Deft's teammates who coined the phrase 'what’s important is an unbroken spirit' while winning the 2022 LoL World Championship.
The full version of the 2023 LoL World Championship theme song 'GODS' can be enjoyed on major domestic and international streaming platforms. The music video is available for viewing on the official LoL YouTube channel.
