On day 5 of the 2022 LCK Summer split, DWG KIA defeated Liiv SANDBOX 2-0 and remained undefeated in the regular split. Due to the durability patch of Patch 12.10, the average game time in the LCK became much longer. However, it was notable to see DK finish both game 1 and 2 in under 30 minutes.
The following is the post-match interview with the mid laner for DK, Heo “ShowMaker” Su.
How do you feel about your victory tonight?
I’m happy that we won 2-0.
The games ended faster than most games in the LCK did. Did the team find ways to snowball faster in the current meta?
I think we just played the way we always did. I think the draft went well, and we’ll need to play at an 11 out of 10 all games. In the end, I feel the better players and the team will always win.
For you especially, I feel that you always become a stronger player in the Summer in comparison to the Spring split. Has your mindset changed while preparing for this split?
I don’t think there’s a particular reason why I tend to perform better during the Summer, but I do agree that things tend to be better in the Summer.
A lot of players, especially those in higher elo, complained about the solo queue MMR system due to some people abusing it [Fresh Placement Accounts]. Yet, you hit rank one and two over the off-season. What’s the secret behind your climb?
It did suck to watch people abusing the system, but I don’t think there’s too much meaning behind gaining LP. I just played with the mindset that if I lose one, I win two more.
After Nuguri joined the team, has the direction of the team practice changed at all?
During Spring, we didn’t have too many options as a team. Although the meta changed from scaling in the side lanes, what I’ll say now is that our mid-jungle can play greedy and have more options.
Would you say that it’s because of Nuguri rejoining?
All teams are stronger than how they were during the Spring split; I think we fit the same bill.
How do you feel about your next matchup against Gen.G?
Chovy’s cracked. He’s unbelievably good. It’ll come down to whether or not I play well. I’ll need to play the laning phase very well. We like playing aggressive, but if we play too aggressively against them, they might break us, so we’ll adjust accordingly.
Lastly, is there anything you’d like to say?
It was really fun to meet the fans at the fan meet. I hope to meet and greet with more fans that I’ve yet to meet.
