[UPDATE Dec 16] After roughly a month since Kim "Gori" Tae-woo parted ways with Nongshim RedForce, it was announced that he will be heading to LPL, as the mid laner for FunPlus Phoenix. Despite being a tournament favorite, FPX had a disappointing run at Worlds this year after they failed to make it out of the group stages. Since then, the team parted ways with most of their players, including long time mid laner and former world champions, Kim "Doinb" Tae-sang.
On Nov. 11, Nongshim RedForce announced that they have released mid laner Kim “Gori” Tae-woo. Earlier this day, Nongshim RedForce re-signed coach Lim “Comet” Hye-seong. Along with Gori’s release, they parted ways with Hwang “Wayne” Seo-hyeon and Kwak “Yusin” Yu-sin, who played on Nongshim RedForce’s challengers team.
Gori was first known in the League of Legends scene as a developing prospect in SK Telecom T1 under Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok. After his days in SKT, Gori moved to EDward Gaming before returning to the LCK in Nongshim RedForce. The 2021 LCK summer season was his peak, as he collected 1,100 Player of the Game points and was awarded the Player of the Split.
Nongshim RedForce had a great season in 2021 summer, but they failed to reach the World Championship as they lost to DWG KIA in the playoffs and were eliminated by Hanwha Life Esports in the regional qualifiers.
