On day 21 of the 2021 LCK Summer split, DWG KIA and NS RedForce defeated Liiv SANDBOX and Afreeca Freecs respectively; both DK and NS now have six match victories under their belt.
DWG KIA and Liiv SANDBOX faced off in the first match of the day. LSB managed to get early leads through proactive kills around the map. However, their snowball came to an abrupt halt, as they had some forced engages that led to consecutive teamfight losses. With Gwen and Diana, DK managed to outscale LSB, eventually sweeping a teamfight in the late game to take game 1.
Despite Yoo “FATE” Su-hyeok pulling out one of his signature champions, Syndra, in game 2, the pick was not enough to push through DK’s tight macro game. DK dominated every single teamfight; Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu’s use of double stasis [Zhonya’s + Stopwatch] in the last teamfight was what sealed the deal for DK, sweeping LSB 2-0.
NS RedForce faced off against Afreeca Freecs in the 2nd match of the day. Despite AF getting a solid early lead to pressure NS, they were not able to push their lead, giving NS time to scale and hit their item spikes. One teamfight in the mid lane was all it took in the end to push through AF’s defences and destroy their Nexus.
Game 2 of the series was all about NS right from the get-go. NS’ snowball started when Lee “Dread” Jin-hyeok died to Gwen, due to not taking Flash as one of his summoner spells. From that point on, Lee “Rich” Jae-won’s Jayce and Han “Peanut” Wang-ho’s Diana took over the game, earning themselves their sixth match victory of the split.
