WOW TBC LEVELING GUIDES
Part 1: Levels 60-65
Part 2: Levels 64-68
Netherstorm and Shadowmoon Valley are the final two zones in Outland. They span levels 67-70 and are where you’ll be finishing your leveling journey. Both offer a ton of unique quests and very powerful rewards, some of which even make up the best in slot items before raids.
It’s important to note that these zones also differ based on your choice of Aldor or Scryer, with some different quest hubs and slightly different quests being offered.
Let’s take a look at how you can tackle these zones and the main things to cover in both Netherstorm and Shadowmoon Valley.
Netherstorm (67-70)
Area 52
Area 52 is the starting quest hub in Netherstorm. It houses both factions and will lead you to every other hub in the area. It’s vital to go here and grab every quest.
Here’s what you should do at Area 52:
- Head to the Inn and grab the Aldor or Scryer quest
- Set your Hearthstone
- Grab the remainder of quests in the town
- Complete all available quests, stopping quest chains when they lead you off Area 52’s island
- Keep all quests and move on to the next step

Kirin’Var Village and Eco-Dome Midrealm
Once you’ve completed all the available quests in Area 52’s island, it’s time to move on. You’ll have quests that lead you to both Eco-Dome Midrealm and Kirin’Var Village.
- First, head to Kirin’Var Village and pick up available quests
- Complete the quests in any order
- Once you unlock Potential Energy Source, head to Manaforge Coruu and complete the Area 52 quests there
- Return to Area 52, hand in your quests, and accept the follow-ups
- Return to Kirin’Var Village and complete all available quests
- Once you finish all the quests in the village, head to Eco-Dome Midrealm
- Complete all Eco-Dome Midrealm quests (they’re all in the small bubble!)
- Once you receive To the Stormspire, move on to the next step
Stormspire and the Protectorate Watch Post
These are the final two hubs in Netherstorm. They offer a ton of quests (some of which even range up to level 70!) and provide some very strong rewards. Here’s how to handle both areas:
- Head to Stormspire and hand in To the Stormspire
- Accept all the quests in the town
- Set your Hearthstone at the Inn
- Begin working through all the quests
- Note: In Search of Farahlite is a small quest chain that requires a group
- Once you’ve finished all available quests, head to the Protectorate Watch Post
- Grab and complete all the quests at the watch post
- Note: the area ends with Nexus-King Salhadaar, a five-man group quest with powerful weapon rewards

Netherstorm Dungeons
- The Botanica
- The Mechanar
- The Arcatraz
Netherstorm features three different dungeons. All three have a quest leading into it from Kirin’Var Village, but they require a flying mount and thus level 70 to enter, so you won’t be able to do these while leveling.
Shadowmoon Valley (67-70)
Wildhammer Stronghold and Shadowmoon Village
Wildhammer Stronghold (Alliance) and Shadowmoon Village (Horde) are the two starter towns in Shadowmoon Valley. You will get the majority of quests here. Here’s what to do once you get there:
- Set your Hearthstone at the Inn
- Pick up all available quests and begin working through them in any order
- Once you unlock The Deathforge, move to the next step
The Deathforge
This is a small sub-zone that is well worth doing. All the quests are situated in the same area, and it leads back to your faction’s starting town.
- Hand in The Deathforge
- Accept the follow-up quests and complete them
- Once you complete Bring Down the Warbringer!, head back to your faction’s town to finish the quest chain
- Continue with any other quests from the town, then move onto the next step
The Altar of Sha'tar and the Sanctum of the Stars
These areas are again specific to your chosen faction of Aldor or Scryer. They’re very important as they provide valuable reputation and lead into an eventual attunement for the Black Temple later in the game.
Both areas provide exactly the same quests, just with different names. Here’s what to do in these hubs:
- Grab all available quests
- Head to the Inn to set your Hearthstone
- Complete the quests in any order
- Once you unlock Akama, you'll find more quests at the Warden’s Cage
- Meanwhile, once you unlock Altruis, you need to head to Nagrand, then run around Outland, so it’s worth skipping while leveling
And that’s it! Both Netherstorm and Shadowmoon Valley provide more than enough experience to hit 70, so you’ve likely already hit max level by this point if you didn’t skip anything so far, but congrats!
