Cloud9 announced on Tuesday that they have parted ways with Kaitlin "Keiti" Boop, who was recently competing for Cloud9 White in the VCT Game Changes North America Series. Though she was only officially a member of C9 White for a month, Keiti immediately put herself forward as a star player and top-tier duelist. She was a key aspect of Cloud9 White's dominant performance at the VCT 2021: Game Changers North America Series 1, where C9 defeated CLG Red in a 3:0 Finals series to claim the first NA game-changers title.
Cloud9's decision to release Keiti was baffling and unexpected to C9 fans, considering how well Keiti was playing. The Twitter replies to the announcement post were filled with question marks and confusion.
Perhaps Keiti initiated the departure or she was bought out by another team, in which case we may be seeing Keiti join another Tier 1 organization very soon. While her departure is a notable loss in talent for C9 White, they will still be able to compete since Keiti was added as a sixth player, so they still have a full five-person roster and will be able to continue to compete without having to pick up a new player.
We have reached out to Keiti and Cloud9 for comment on this story, we will update this story as we discover new information.
