In the 2021 PUBG Global Invitational.S, Gen.G won the Weekly Finals for Week 5 and secured an aggregate of $880,397 in prize money. Gen.G collected 76 points to reach the top, and became the only team to win a Weekly Finals series without winning any chicken dinners. Cha "Pio" Seung-hoon's miracle run in match 9 gave the team a big boost. Unlike the previous Weekly Finals, Week 5 was extremely close. There was only a 10-point difference from 1st place to 7th place. Meta Gaming, Infantry, and Digital Athletics followed in total points and collected additional prize money.
The total prize money that was set for Week 5 was $600,000. Gen.G claimed $300,000 with their first-place finish, and acquired additional prize money from the crowdfunding. Digital Athletics jumped up to 2nd place, surpassing Zenith and Faze Clan while Meta Gaming also climbed to 3rd place.
In the bottom 16 matches, Zenith Esports ended in 1st place with 73 points. Faze Clan, Buriram United Esports, and Shoot To Kill followed in order. Global Esports Xsset finished in last place. They will not be able to participate in the final Weekly Survivals.
PGI.S will continue next Tuesday with the final week schedule. Next week, they will crown the champions of PGI.S 2021. For the last week, the prize money pool will be raised to $1,000,000, with the winner of the Weekly Finals taking $500,000. The champions will be decided by the total prize money acquired.
