When you drop into Call of Duty’s newest zombie mode, Outbreak, you are able to choose one weapon to start with. While you will be able to find new weapons throughout the map as you play, you will probably be relying on your starting weapon for at least the first couple of rounds. So what gun should you use before you can get your hands on that sweet, sweet Raygun?

There are actually a number of viable starting weapons depending on your playstyle. Here are some of the best weapons for you to start an Outbreak match with.

Gallo-SA12 - Best Semi-Automatic Shotgun

The Gallo-SA12 is a semi-automatic shotgun that is perfect for close-quarters zombies killing. The gun is capable of dealing devastating damage up close and has a high enough fire rate to hold off the zombie hordes, even if you miss a few shots along the way. When pack-a-punched, this gun becomes a one-hitting machine. If you are looking for a stress-free shotgun experience, this is a good option.

Hauer 77 - Best Pump-Action Shotgun

The Hauer 77 is a pump-action shotgun that is capable of incredible damage. This gun will outperform the semi-automatic shotgun against bosses and will provide more consistent one hit kills on zombies in early rounds. The Hauer 77 also levels up quite well. When pack-a-punched, this shotgun can take down panzer zombies and other boss-type enemies with ease.

If you do try the Hauer 77, make your shots count. A pump-action is going to be a slow firing weapon, so it is important that you land the shots you do take, especially in later rounds.

AK-47 - Best Assault Rifle

While it is fun to get up and close with the zombie horde, sometimes the best strategy for staying alive is to keep your distance. The AK-47 is a heavy-hitting assault rifle that can deal some serious damage when pack-a-punched. It has the highest time-to-kill in the assault rifle category, tied with the new FARA 85 rifle, so it is a good option to choose. If you prefer another rifle like the M16 or FARA 85, they can work for this purpose as well.

Stoner 63 - Best Light machine gun

Sometimes the best way to kill a zombie horde is with a machine gun — everyone knows that. Luckily, the Stoner 63 is a capable light machine gun that is up to the task. The Stoner has excellent damage stats, and since it’s an LMG you won’t have to reload as often when you are taking down zombies. The biggest downside to the Stoner 63 is that it will slow down your movement, which can get you in danger at times. But if you are playing the game with some friends who can help support you, the Stoner 63 is a great weapon to have in the mix.
