On March 14th (KST), we have interviewed Travis Day and Joe Shelly, two Senior Game Designers of Diablo III, for a preview of the new class, Necromancer. In the interview, Female Necromancer was revealed along with new Necromancer skills.
'Grim Skythe' [Note: All names are tentative] is an AoE primary skill that attacks enemies by summoning a huge scythe, and it will allow Necromancer to generate 'Essence', which will be the name for Necromancer's resource.
'Leech' will be similar to its Diablo II counterpart. Attacking cursed enemies will allow Necromancer to regain both Health and Essence.
'Blood Nova' was originally named as 'Dark Nova'. While it resembles Wizard's Explosive Blast, it uses not only Essence but also Health to deal heavy damage around Necromancer.
'Devour' will allow Necromancer to regain both Health and Essence by consuming nearby corpses, and it could be a valuable tool in Necromancer's arsenal as Blood Nova will use up both Health and Essence.
Finally, 'Blood Golem', a welcome return from Diablo II, will also be able to snare nearby enemies while healing both Necromancer and itself.
The interview also revealed that Necromancer is being developed with four skill 'archetypes' in mind, and will use both One-handed and Two-handed Scythes as the class-specific weapon. Also, Necromancer's armor sets will have bone-themed appearances to give the class a feeling reminiscent of Diablo II.
