According to a report by ESPN Esports' Jacob Wolf, Tristan "PowerOfEvil" Schrage will be joining TSM as its new mid laner for the 2021 League of Legends Championship Series. According to Wolf, PowerOfEvil told TSM on Tuesday, November 10th that he was planning to sign with them at the start of the free agency window on Monday, November 16th instead of Evil Geniuses, who was also in talks with PowerOfEvil in addition to other mid laners.
PowerOfEvil had his finest LCS season since coming to North America before for the 2018 NA LCS Spring Split. As the ace of FlyQuest, PowerOfEvil led his team to its first LCS post-season final in the spring and then once again in the summer. FlyQuest qualified for the 2020 World Championship as the 2nd seed from NA, and despite an impressive win against League of Legends Pro League champion Top Esports, was eliminated in Group D after a 3-3, 3rd place finish.
PowerOfEvil will be taking the place of Søren "Bjergsen" Bjerg, who recently retired to become TSM's Head Coach after seven straight years as the team's starting mid laner. Bjergsen's retirement has changed the priorities in the mid lane market, and not just for TSM.
Nicolaj "Jensen" Jensen recently had his contract extended by Team Liquid for three years at the reported cost of $4.2 million. G2 Esports' buyout for Luka "Perkz" Perković, who is eyeing a permanent return to the mid lane on a new squad, is reportedly just shy of $5 million. Should PowerOfEvil join TSM, he'd be a suitable replacement for Bjergsen while simultaneously cutting down FlyQuest, who narrowly lost to TSM 3-2 in the final of the 2020 LCS Summer Playoffs.

This will make a lot of people mad. It's a good, risk adverse choice, but most fans want someone like Perkz or a young talent with lots of potential. This falls in between.
