Former Griffin jungler Lee "Tarzan" Seung-yong confirmed on his personal Facebook that he will compete in China's LPL in the 2021 season. The three-times LCK finalist will see new challenges in League of Legends' strongest region, after he ended up teamless with the dissolution of Griffin.
"To take on a new challenge and improve myself, I have decided to play in the LPL league from 2021. I don’t know how many times I rewrote this sentence, so I hope my determination and sincerity is well delivered," Tarzan writes.
Known for his wide champion pool and coming out as a jungle prodigy with the rise of Griffin, Tarzan helped his team to three consecutive LCK titles, before the series of scandals associated with Griffin led to the fallout of the team. When the (then) core five of Griffin re-signed with the organization at the start of 2019, they were supposed to compete with it until the end of 2021 but Griffin's relegation out of the LCK ended the team's short-lived legacy. In May 2020, Tarzan was one of the last players of the original team to depart.
There's nothing official on where Tarzan will go, but according to Fomos.kr reporter Kim "Kenzi" Yong-woo, LNG Esports is the most likely destination. LNG had a rough year, finishing 16th in Spring and 13th in Summer — a major drop-down from their top 6 placement in 2019 Summer Playoffs. Whether Tarzan completely replaces Xiong "Xx" Yu-Long in the jungle or the two will share the position remains to be seen.
