[Worlds 2020] FlyQuest, UOL eliminated, DRX, TES advance from Group D

Just like in Group B on Day 6 of Worlds, two teams were eliminated after the second game of the day, with the other two qualifying for the knockout stage. FlyQuest opened up the day with a near must-win rematch against DRX, but it was a fairly clean victory from the LCK second seed which then set FlyQuest's fate on UOL and DRX both beating Top Esports. However, in Game 2 on the day, TES took out UOL, to get to four wins themselves.

After the second game, FlyQuest could still tie DRX with their overall record, but they lost the head to head 0-2, which is why they were eliminated so quickly. Despite both teams potentially ending 3-3, the With FLY's loss to DRX in the opener, Top Esports would've had to go 0-4 on the day for FlyQuest to qualify over them, losing both their regularly scheduled match and a tiebreaker against the NA second seed.

UOL would need to win all games on the day, but even if so, they depended on other games to play out a certain way as well for them to advance to the knockout phase. Their first loss sets them at 0-4, and despite Fnatic qualifying in 2017 with an 0-4 record to start their group stage, UOL is not afforded that possibility. DRX and TES both already have more wins than UOL could possibly get in the group stage.

With this elimination, the LCS has now had all three of their seeds sent home in the group stage. The LCK has sent all three seeds onwards, while the LPL is also sending three seeds out of four total in Groups. The LEC is sending two seeds, and the non-major regions present in the Worlds Group stage have not qualified anyone to the knockouts.

The eight teams in the knockout phase are now all decided, with Suning and G2 Esports from Group A, DAMWON Gaming and JD Gaming from Group B, Gen.G and Fnatic from Group C, and Top Esports and DRX from Group D. The group draw for the knockouts is set to take place directly after the Group D games conclude and will determine matchups and the route to finals for each team.
