After week 4 of the 2020 League of Legends Championship Series Spring Split, Team Liquid sits tied for 2nd place with TSM with a 6-2 record. Team Liquid won both its matches this week against Immortals and FlyQuest, but both games were far from clean. TL's win over Immortals featured a tremor-inducing base race well after 40 minutes, and in just about the same amount of time the next day, TL spent most of the game losing to FlyQuest before errors at Baron turned the tides.

Team Liquid seems less than thrilled with how its wins were secured, but when all was said and done, the team was able to come away with the 2-0. TL has looked like one of the strongest teams in the LCS this summer and significantly improved from its 9th place finish in the Spring Split. Team Liquid Support Jo "CoreJJ" Yong-In spoke to Inven Global's Nick Geracie to discuss the team's wild 2-0 weekend and how the team's dynamic has changed from spring to summer. 

CoreJJ, Team Liquid 2-0'd this week against Immortals and FlyQuest, but neither win was particularly easy. How are you feeling after your matches this weekend?

The only thing feeling I get right now is that I'm pretty tired after these two games. I'm just happy we could eventually win the games. I think it's always best to get a win with many things we can learn. I think we found a lot in terms of what we can better learn and improve upon this weekend, so I think that this was a good week.

Team Liquid is being looked at this summer as the main team that can challenge Cloud9 in the LCS. How do you feel your team has changed with Tactical as the full-time starter in the bot lane, and what has that adjustment been like for you as the Support?

Right now we are trying to be a more flexible team with Tactical starting. I think we are trying to work out many things so all will be well.

Your Head Coach Joshua "Jatt" Leesman said after the game that Team Liquid was willing to try out more champions than other LCS teams. What do you think has caused teams to be less flexible than TL?

I don't know how other teams think, but in terms of our team, all of our players have deep champion pools. We can basically play anything. 

The 2020 LCS Spring Split was the first time you've struggled as a team since joining Team Liquid. Was there anything that you experience in spring that you hadn't before on TL?

I'm not sure. I usually have the same routine and I try to do the same thing, so I don't think I've changed much individually. Right now, I'm trying to help our teammates have a conversation about how to play the game and how we all want to play it. I'm just trying to talk more right now.

As a veteran, do you feel more of a burden of communication now that Yiliang "Doublelift" Peng, who was looked at as the veteran leader of TL, has left the team?

It's not just because Doublelift left. Overall, we had a really bad Spring Split, so I wanted to change something; anything I could for the team.

Tied for 2nd place is a good start for changing things for TL. Thanks for the interview, CoreJJ. Is there anything you want to say to the Team Liquid fans?

This week was like a rollercoaster. Things were very up and down, but we ended up winning the games. Next week our games will be better and quicker. I just want everyone to enjoy watching our team play.
