Friday June 3rd, Greyson "Goldenglue" Gilmer and Golden Guardians mutually parted ways, nullifying the remainder of their contract. Goldenglue started the entire League Championship Series Spring Split with the org, helping the team make playoffs, after winning all three of their games in the final weekend of the Spring Split.
Just before the start of the 2020 LCS Summer Split, Golden Guardians announced the addition of Tanner "Damonte" Damonte after a series of tryouts landed him as their starting Mid Laner. Golden Guardians added a few other players as well, particularly in Academy, and started the Summer Split with thirteen players between their two squads.
Along with the announcement of Damonte's signing, Golden Guardians implied that Goldenglue would compete for a position on their Academy team, and it was somewhat expected that he'd start over Nicholas "Ablazeolive" Antonio Abbott. However, in his TwitLonger, Goldenglue explained how Ablazeolive came to start over him, noting both their scrims before Damonte's arrival along with Ablazeolive being a better fit in Academy.
Additionally, Goldenglue announced a potential switch to coaching, noting his wealth of experience. Not only does he have a long career, it is also storied, spending time on many different teams, helping him gather valuable experiences from many different coaches and mentors throughout the scene.
"After talking to many friends and mentors within the industry, I’ve decided that coaching makes a lot of sense for me, considering my personality type and player experience. The fact that I have over 7 years of experience competing on countless teams, it makes it very easy for me to relate and talk to players... I could see myself becoming the coach that I always needed but was never there for me."
Goldenglue has become a free agent once again, and Inven Global will update his status within the league upon further development
