Sanghyeok “Faker” Lee, the League of Legends pro player, reached over 200,000 viewers in his official debut stream on Twitch.

On February 6th (KST), SKT T1 announced its streaming contract with Twitch and said that Faker’s first stream will start at 11:30 PM on the same day. Even before his stream began, the number of viewers gathered on the channel reached over 40,000 people; an audience size that was a testament to the hype surrounding the stream.

The actual broadcast started a bit later at around 11:55 PM. Faker’s stream, which Twitch broadcasted globally, attracted not just fans from his hometown, but also people from all over the world. Although there was an English interpreter on standby to facilitate communication, some people pointed out that multi-streaming nature of the broadcast brought on video delay, sound quality issues, and an inadequate interaction between the streamer and the viewers.

The viewership number skyrocketed shortly after the stream began and reached over 200,000 viewers, a number worthy of Faker’s reputation. During his three-hour stream, the concurrent viewership peaked close to 250,000 and accumulated over 1.4 million views.
